Our homeowners are now able to enjoy a 12,000 square foot home with extensive outdoor living spaces. The ten bedroom, 13 bath home features extensive custom cabinetry and interior trim throughout the home. Design, art, and style were intricately woven into the multiple aesthetic elements throughout the home which personalized it in a way that was unique to the owners’ viewpoint. The end result was both beautiful and functional.

Scherrer Construction had the good fortune of working with highly accomplished McCormack and Etten Architects and Page One Interior as well as many other talented professionals to complete this project.

Throughout the construction of the home Brent Warren, project manager, worked with Scherrer’s team of experts to overcome poor soil condition including exposed underground springs and weather delays typical of Wisconsin winters. By maintaining an aggressive schedule Scherrer Construction completed the project in 13-months, allowing the Owners plenty of time to plan their house-warming party for their family, friends and the construction team. Because of the aggressive schedule the Owners will get full use of the home for the entire summer. The custom cabinetry and woodwork was admired as guests toured the home.

The entire house is extremely well crafted, but what sets this house apart from other properties around Lake Geneva is its unique cabinetry and woodworking. The interior designer and architect distinguished spaces by adding distinctive wood detailing for each room. Scherrer Construction’s carpentry crews labored to ensure every detail was meticulously crafted and every detail was seamlessly added to create a truly customized home that is unique and personalized.

Scherrer Construction has been widely recognized as one of the elite construction companies in Wisconsin and Illinois since 1928. Beginning as a residential builder we have learned from our forefathers’ experiences. Scherrer clients are offered benefits that only come from years in business.
Our new green philosophy is as follows:

We believe Scherrer Construction has a responsibility to minimize the environmental impact of our construction projects for our communities and business partners. Our choice to reduce our carbon footprint has been a conscious, executive decision.

In response to this decision, Scherrer Construction has formed a Green Council of volunteer representatives from all departments and trades. The Green Council is charged with creating and implementing a long-term plan that focuses on reducing our carbon footprint. Specifically, we will focus on company-wide sustainable education for all employees, and researching and implementing these environmentally-friendly practices for our office and throughout our construction projects.

Our Green Council will measure all of our green efforts to assist in refining our methods, educating our employees, and educating our clients.

Thank you to all our Council members for your commitment and leadership! Together, we will work to reduce our carbon footprint both in the field and in the office.

Scherrer Construction, a general contracting, construction management and design build firm has broken ground on the new Burlington Department of Public Works building in Burlington, Wisconsin.

City officials, employees and the project planning team gathered midmorning on May 13 to celebrate the groundbreaking. The new building will consolidate the existing Burlington public works departments in one 38,000 square-foot building. Located adjacent to the Wastewater Treatment Plant at 6025 South Pine Street, the building will be completed by January 2011.

City officials worked with Milwaukee architectural firm, Bray Architects, and local engineer Kapur & Associates, to design the facility. Scherrer Construction was hired later in the planning stages to complete the construction. Jim Scherrer, Jr., president and CEO of Scherrer Construction states, “The city did an excellent job selecting the design, engineering and construction team for this project. We each bring our individual expertise and work together for a common goal… the Department of Public Works building. Scherrer Construction was able to bring the construction estimate under budget because of all our dedication and team work.”

Scherrer Construction sought to include many local subcontractors throughout the competitive bidding process. In addition to using local subcontractors, Scherrer Construction assigned Keith Lois, a resident of Burlington and thirty- year employee of Scherrer Construction, as the project’s Onsite Superintendent.

Working with our team we were able to keep the public and our employees safe on an over 80-acre site that has a functioning rest area, walking trails, picnic area, pet exercise and recycling areas, most of which were under construction. I believe this project is a true testament to our commitment to safety.”

Scherrer Construction was proud to be the construction manger on the renovation and building additions to this community gathering place. Tom Stelling of Stelling & Associates Architects, LTD designed the overall extensive project. It included renovation of the existing 12,400 square-foot building and the addition of 23,600 square feet of building and entertainment areas.

Jim Scherrer, president and CEO of Scherrer Construction states, “The success of the building can really be seen by the amount of activity it has brought to Burlington. The completion of the project ensures our city has a beautiful facility that will meet the needs of the community for many years to come. We are extremely grateful to be a part of the positive economic development in Burlington.”

Since its completion, this centrally-located facility is used as a community gathering place for events such as weddings, corporate meetings, large fundraisers and social functions. This new facility was possible because of the support and management of the Burlington Community Fund, Ltd. non-profit organization consisting of Burlington community members.
