Scherrer Completes Two Community Aquatic Centers just in time for Summer!
Scherrer Construction recently constructed two community aquatic centers just in time for the start of summer! Scherrer partnered with the City of Burlington to build a $5.4 million new facility that would replace their original community pool that was over 50 years old. The new Burlington Community Aquatic Center features a six lane lap pool with three water slides, diving boards, and a rock climbing wall. The activity pool features a water play structure, zero depth entry, and a current channel.

Scherrer also partnered with Racine County and SC Johnson to construct the new SC Johnson Community Aquatic Center in Racine. This $7.4 million facility features 15,000 SF of water surface, large water slides, water play and spray structures, rope course, and zero-depth entry. The SC Johnson Community Aquatic Center also includes a 4,800 square-foot pool building with changing rooms, a concession stand and shaded lounge areas. Scherrer worked in conjunction with Ayres Associates, the architect, for both aquatic centers.

Both aquatic centers celebrated their new facilities with a grand opening. Olympic gold-medal swimmer Cullen Jones was present for the SC Johnson grand opening and spoke about the importance of swimming lessons and the positive impact the new facility will have on the community. Scherrer Construction donated a Scherrer Cares Buddy Bench to each aquatic center for the kids to enjoy and utilize throughout the summer months.
